Collective Worship

Collective Worship is an important part of the school day, taking time to come together and reflect as a whole school community.

We are passionate about delivering thoughtful, thought provoking and inspiring Collective Worship. We have daily collective worship. Each half term we have a value that forms the theme for the worship led by Mrs McIntosh.

Song and singing is incredibly powerful and an integral part of worship. We have selected a core set of hymns, which link to our value for the half term and are sung in collective worship.

Entrance – exit hymns for Collective Worship

Collective worship provides opportunities for pupils to reflect on spiritual and moral issues. It is inclusive, invitational, and inspirational, enabling pupils and adults time to ponder important questions and issues.

As a school, we have created big questions for each year group, linked to our value for the half term. The questions have been carefully planned to be progressive and develop deeper thinking as pupils begin to flourish through school.

Spirituality in Collective Worship

Our Collective Worship Policy can be viewed here: Collective Worship

We have a Collective Worship M.P. as part of our School Parliament, who helps us by providing ideas, prayers, insight and by evaluating our worship so that it continues to meet the needs of our children. We invite all children to take part in Collective Worship, but are incredibly inclusive and give children choices, options and independence in how they join in, reflect and learn with us. Each year group is responsible for leading a service in our local church for important feast/celebration days e.g Harvest, Remembrance, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Lent, Easter

Mrs McIntosh and Mrs Panton attend the Collective Worship briefings led by the Deputy Director of Derby Diocese. These are excellent opportunity to network with other leaders and find out about resources available to schools. There is more information on Collective Worship published by the DBE here: DBE-CW-Guidance.pdf (derbydbe.org)
