SEND

Mrs Jones is the school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo).  She is responsible for coordinating the support for children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) and developing the school’s SEND Policy to ensure all children get a consistent, high-quality response to meeting their needs in school.

Our named governor for SEND is Clare Hodson-Walker.

If you have any concerns about your child’s progress please come and talk to her.  Your first contact should be with the class teacher. However, if you wish to speak to Mrs Jones you will find her on the gate most days before and after school.  If you would like to make an appointment to speak to her  then please phone the school office, leave a message and she will return your call.

All members of staff, in conjunction with the authorities, have a responsibility for ensuring that all children can succeed and have an equal opportunity to attain their maximum potential in all aspects of the curriculum. All children are entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum, including the National Curriculum, and their relative progress will be recorded, valued and reviewed.

All pupils at our school have access to a broad and balanced curriculum. Teachers set high expectations for every pupil, whatever their prior attainment. Teachers use appropriate assessment to set targets which are deliberately ambitious. Potential areas of difficulty are identified and addressed at the outset. Lessons are planned to address potential areas of difficulty and to remove barriers to pupil achievement. In many cases, such planning will mean that pupils with SEN and disabilities will be able to study the full national curriculum
