CHARACTERISTICS OF EFFECTIVE LEARNING IN OUR SCHOOL

Our curriculum is based upon the EYFS Framework, as well as the National Curriculum. Our bridging documents ensure that children remember what they have learnt in Reception and can absorb new knowledge into larger ideas. Each subject in KS1 is valued as its own discipline and has a knowledge and skills map, which is delivered through various exciting ways. We aim to ensure that the knowledge and skills learned in EYFS are then applied and built upon later in KS1. Therefore, learning is progressive from EYFS into KS1.

These are tweaked and adapted each year depending on the needs of the cohort and anything specific happening locally or nationally that might be taken into consideration when the teachers plan their lessons.

Learning nursery rhymes in the early years is an important part of their development. It’s a great way to introduce new vocabulary to children and for them to recognise the sound in words. Carrying out actions to rhymes also supports the development of fine and gross motor skills. Nursery Rhymes and Songs – A to Z – BBC Teach
