Science

As scientists, our pupils will engage in a carefully considered science curriculum, which will develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena and an understanding of how the scientific community contributes to our past, present and future. We want pupils to develop a complex knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, whilst developing a broad range of skills in working scientifically and beyond. We recognise that our pupils are living and growing up in an increasingly scientific and technological age and that they need to acquire scientific knowledge, skills and attitudes to better prepare them for modern life.

Our curriculum makes links between their science learning and their lives outside the classroom, enabling them to make better sense of the world they live in. Studying science allows children to appreciate how new knowledge and skills can be fundamental to solving arising global challenges.

We realise that young children are naturally curious and passionate about learning and believe that all children can be scientists by following their own natural curiosity. A scientist observes, questions, creates, hypotheses, experiments, records data, and then analyses that data. Our curriculum aims to encourage critical thinking and empower pupils to question the ‘how’s’ and ‘why’s’ of the world around them, thus providing them with rich awe and wonder experiences.
