French (Modern Foreign Langugae)

As linguists in a foreign language, children will be better able to gain a better understand other cultures and provide them with the ability to communicate with others across the world.  We have chosen to teach French as our Modern Foreign Language (MFL) across Key Stage 2 as this ensures pupils have a good foundation in the subject before moving into the next phase of their education.  Our learning focuses on the 3 pillars of a language (phonics, vocabulary & grammar).

Within our school we follow the Kapow primary scheme for learning French; this follows the national curriculum and provides excellent teaching resources including phonetic videos and French reading materials.

Above all, as linguists, we want to foster an enjoyment of learning foreign languages that will stay with them throughout secondary education.
