HOW DO WE IMPLEMENT OUR CURRICULUM?
Our curriculum is underpinned by the Church of England’s Vision for Education. The National Curriculum’s programmes of study are broken in to small steps. Many of our subjects are enquiry led. This drives the focus for the learning. Progression documents for each subject areas set out how the children build upon their knowledge and skills in an individual subject as they journey through the school. Teachers use our progression document (see below) when completing medium-term plans.
Long Term Plans – What will my child be studying?
These documents identify the units of work your child will be learning. They outline the value of the half term, significant people studied and opportunities to learn about people and events from a range of different cultures and heritages.
Meetings and workshops are held throughout the year for parents, to support them with finding out more about the school’s curriculum and how they can help at home.
Curriculum Overviews for Parents/ Carers
These documents outline what your child will be learning during the half term to help guide conversations about what your child has learned.
As part of each termly theme, a WOW Day event takes place. This serves to celebrate the work completed and to reflect on the learning which has taken place, to culminate the skills and knowledge taught or to engage the children at the very start of a termly theme. An example from one of our most recent WOW Days is below – click on the link:
