Today was a day of mixed emotions for all involved as we said farewell to our Year 6 children who leave us to continue their educational journey to their respective Secondary Schools.
The children were invited into school to meet with their friends (at a social distance) and celebrate their time here at Coton-in-the-Elms Primary School.
Mrs Farmer and the kitchen team prepared a farewell lunch for them all to enjoy together and then the dancing began! The M.U.G.A. became their dance floor and the music played loud! Some of the girls were trying to teach Mrs Weston and Mr Smith their TikTok dance moves – it was quite amusing to say the least! Some just took the time quietly to catch up with one another whilst looking on at the celebrations. It was lovely to see them all together one last time.
Before it was time to leave, Mr Smith got the children up one by one to highlight and celebrate each child’s uniqueness and their achievements throughout their time at Coton, also presenting them with the leavers gifts from Parents and the FPTA/School.
Finally it was time to leave and as the children were dismissed one by one, they were sent off with applause from the staff and Year 6 family members. Although their send off was not quite as we would have wanted it to be, it is still incredibly special in it’s own way and one to remember.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a big Thank You to those families for whom it will be their final year at Coton-in-the-Elms Primary School. These families are the Carter family, Cox, Frith, Haywood, Power, Rigby-Snaddon, Smith and the Wintle family. Thank you for all the support you have given to our school throughout the years and we wish you all well for the future. Please, don’t be a stranger!
